Flaccidity

Flaccidity is the name given to the weakening of the collagen and elastic fibers that support the tissues of the organism, can occur in the skin or skeletal muscles. The process of weakening occurs naturally and may also suffer from genetic influences, excessive sun, sedentary lifestyle, inadequate diet, smoking, pregnancy, obesity and hormonal disorders.

It can be muscular, when it occurs more deeply; or dermal when it occurs superficially. Muscle flaccidity occurs mainly due to inactivity and inadequate diet; and the dermal is caused mainly by excess sun and by restrictive diets.

Flaccidity can be combated through bodybuilding, aerobic exercises, balanced nutrition, sun protection, surgical intervention or treatments such as accent, carboxitherapy, crystal peeling with retinoic acid and intradermotherapy.
